Two opposing approaches for electrolyser cost reduction are presented. Where XINTC focusses on strong modularisation of the electrolyser equipment to reach low cost, the IPOSH study (TNO, H2Seas & Bosch) focusses on finding the optimum scale for different components and subsystems. The presentation ON2Quest highlights that while heat exchangers and pumps maybe a standard operating equipment, innovation is needed for the balance of plant.
The workshop will then focus on discussing with the participants the key cost drivers. The session will close with a short reflection on the outcome of the workshop and link to the HyPro Programme (WP1) to driving down cost of hydrogen by Arend (on behalf of HyPro).
